Course Overview
This course describes a broad framework of architecture work that precedes then steers IT system development. It defines areas of focus for IT Architects and aims to cover generally applicable concepts and knowledge; independent of any specific framework. The main concepts covered are:
- The different kinds/levels of IT Architecture
- Aligning IT to Business
- Architectural pre-cursors such as constraints and motivation
- The value and use of frameworks
- Concepts and techniques associated with the main Architecture Domains - Business, Data, Applications, Infrastructure
- An architectural approach to handling non-function alrequirements
This course prepares delegates for the ISEB Intermediate Certificate in Enterprise and Solutions Architecture, the achievement of which demonstrates that Enterprise and Solution Architects have a consistent and comprehensive platform of knowledge about architecture terms and concepts
This training may be available onsite; please contact us if you are interested.
Audience
- This course and qualification is aimed at practising IT Architects, or those wishing to progress into this role.
Skills Gained
The primary aims of this and the related certificate are to give enterprise and solution architects a broad framework that covers the range of architecture work that precedes and steers system development, and to focus attention on areas where the architect is responsible for effective design and risk management.
A secondary aim is to provide architects with generally applicable knowledge and training. General here means independent of any specific architecture framework including general knowledge and skills, rather than framework-specific terms, concepts, structures and processes.
Delegates will learn to:
- understand the different kinds of architecture and the roles architects play in the IT/IS industry.
- recognise the business context, and the importance of business-IT alignment.
- understand architecture precursors: goals, directives and constraints.
- follow a architecture development process and use description frameworks.
- understand concepts and techniques of: Business Architecture, Data Architecture, Applications architecture.
- employ solution design to meet non-functional requirements.
- understand how Infrastructure Architecture should support Applications Architecture
