What’s New in TOGAF?

The TOGAF training course is growing in popularity throughout the UK and is constantly being updated to be able to compete in today’s business world. Thus, since the release of TOGAF 9 there have been some significant changes to the framework itself.

One focus of TOGAF 9 is the development which has been made to ensure that the content in the specification is structured in a modular way, involving seven parts. TOGAF ensures that the concepts in each part of this specification are developed with limited impacts on any other part of the specification. This is a massive difference to the previous version of TOGAF. The idea of this is to support greater usability as each section has a separate purpose which can be read in isolation to the others. It also works to support a more structured release management of the TOGAF specification. It is thought that this part of the TOGAF methodology will be continuously updated and edited accordingly.

Further to this the TOGAF content framework has also been updated. This framework provides a detailed model of any architectural world including; deliverables, artefacts and any architectural building blocks which are being represented. The idea of this is to create more consistency throughout the framework when following an ADM. The benefits of this change can be witnessed from a number of levels of the TOGAF methodology. To begin with it provides a comprehensive checklist of architecture outputs which can be created or indeed reduced depending on the risk factor or any gaps within the framework. The other clear benefit is that this inclusion allows the architectural work to be applied across the enterprise.

Moreover, within a larger organisation the practise of TOGAF requires a number of individuals and teams to work together and ensure they enrol onto a TOGAF training course in order to be fully qualified. The new version of TOGAF requires a new set of guidelines and concepts to be learnt and understood in order to address a specific problem. Below are the new concepts which have been introduced…

  • Partitioning
  • Architecture repository
  • Capability framework

These along with the ADM guidelines and techniques work to bring together a set of supporting materials which demonstrate in a great deal more detail how the ADM can be applied in specific situations.

Thus, there is a great amount of benefits of learning the TOGAF 9 training course as it provides the following;

  • Greater usability
  • More focus on holistic enterprise change
  • More consistency of output

Overall the new version of TOGAF is the best yet…
